    <dc:description>The Portpatrick Harbour Community Benefit Society became the very first "Community Benefit Society" in Scotland to achieve both FCA registration and full Charitable status with the Scottish charity regulator OSCR in July 2015. This was achieved with the fantastic support and guidance provided by Community Shares Scotland, Co-operatives UK, Social Investment Scotland and Third Sector Dumfries &amp; Galloway and subsequently gave the community of Portpatrick the opportunity to save the harbour from a parlous situation.

The Portpatrick Harbour CBS's main aims are to secure the integrity and appearance of the historic harbour of Portpatrick for the benefit of the Community and all who love and visit it. The harbour lies at the heart of the village and is as important to Portpatrick as the village green is too many other communities throughout Britain. The Portpatrick Harbour CBS in combination with Community Shares Scotland is in the process of raising a community share offer which will provide all who love the village of Portpatrick with the opportunity to purchase community shares in the harbour thus supporting and securing the future of this unspoiled idyllic asset for many years to come.</dc:description>
