    <dc:description>Bedford Credit Union (BCU) is a not-for-profit financial co-operative owned and controlled by its members. We offer savings and affordable loans and our main office is situated at 6 St Paul’s Square, Bedford. Like many financial institutions, we are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority. Savers’ deposits are fully protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme

BCU was established in 1998 and has grown such that adult membership now exceeds 1800, with 1100 junior members. We are looking after members’ savings in excess of £1.25m and have a loan book in excess of £475k. We encourage regular saving and thrift together with the provision of loans that are sensibly priced and affordable.

BCU has community service at its heart and as such we involve volunteers in the running of the office, carrying out many of the key functions of the business.

We are affiliated to the Association of British Credit Unions (ABCUL), registered under the Data Protection Act and a member of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme and the Financial Ombudsman Service.</dc:description>
