NameThe Seavington Community Shop and Services Association
DescriptionThe Seavington Villages Store and Café opened on Wednesday 14th July 2010. This marked an important point in the development of our community amenities. During the preceding 5 years much planning was undertaken including a comprehensive survey of village residents wishes by the Seavington Parish Council, a Village Plan covering the next 10 years, surveys on peoples shopping patterns and what the shop should stock not to mention the fundraising efforts and detailed planning of the accomodation. All the hard work resulted in the re opening of a shop in the villages along with a cafe for local residents to socialise and interact. The shop now stocks a large number of quality lines of convenience store goods including a whole host of local foodstuffs supporting where possible Somerset small businesses. These include fresh milk, eggs, bread, cheese, cakes, cider, beer, honey and much more. If we haven't got what you want, please ask and we will do our best to accomodate your needs. Although the adjoining café is a hidden gem for villagers, the ample parking facilities along with the nearby playing fields and childrens playpark has brought a number of visitors to our villages who also enjoy the delights such as great coffee, speciality teas, delicious cakes, bacon rolls, paninis, jacket potatoes and soups which are all available. Coach parties are an ever increasing trade as we welcome these visitors by prior appointment. Additionally, an increasing number of walking and cycling groups are using the facilities whilst enjoying the particular beauty of our part of the county. Book exchange, local art displays, free wifi and internet are all available through the hard work and auspices of a totally volunteer effort so if you feel like helping maintain this valuable community amenity or meeting new friends in the village, please ask one of the on duty staff for further details or just ring us during opening hours.
