    <dc:description>SCHA is the largest Co-operative employing 410 people from various areas of Sunderland; deliver 10,000 hours of care pw; GBP 5.3m turnover. SCHA was formed in 1994 and is now recognised nationally as a model of best practice and is becoming of increasing significance, particularly as Local Authorities contract out their care services. As a result Margaret Elliot, the co-operative's founder member and now General Manager, is in great demand from other areas of the country to advise on how co-operatives like SHCA can be developed in these other areas, she has spoke at a networking event supported by the provide project in November 2003  SCHA offers a range of services and care packages for people in the Sunderland area, especially those who are dependent upon others for personal care. The service delivered is tailored to individual needs, and, in conjunction with the service users, a care plan is carefully monitored on a regular basis.
