NameBradford-On-Tone Village Shop
DescriptionFollowing a period of several years without a shop, in October 1995 the then landlord of The White Horse Inn set up a shop on the present site. In 1998 the Parish Council were asked to take over the shop but when this proved impossible a public meeting was called and subsequently a group of twelve people put forward a plan. Villagers were invited to finance the plan by purchasing shares and within ten days £4,500 had been secured. A committee was formed and the village shop was re-launched on 1 April 1998. In 2000 it became an Industrial and Provident Society named ‘Bradford-on-Tone Village Shop Association’ (BOTVSA). The shop is operated and managed entirely by volunteers on a ‘not-for-profit’ basis for the benefit of the local community. We specialise in stocking quality products from local suppliers supplemented by everyday groceries, frozen foods and household goods with popular national names. Newspapers and magazines are available by special order.
