    <dc:description>Scotmid Co-op is part of Scotland's success story.  It was formed in 1981 following the merger of St Cuthbert's and Dalziel Societies.  However, its roots go further back than that as St Cuthbert's was originally formed in 1859. In 2009 it celebrated its 150th anniversary.Right from its beginnings the Society has believed in creating a new shopping experience for the people of Scotland while maintaining a strong community focus.

Scotmid has risen to the challenges of the changing retail market by expanding, creating jobs and meeting the needs of communities throughout Scotland. Today the Society has over 280 outlets selling quality products ranging from food to health and beauty products through its Semichem stores. And as one of the largest funeral directors in the country, it's always there in times of need. Scotmid also has a Property division which has an extensive portfolio of both commercial and residential properties throughout Scotland.</dc:description>
